We're Hiring: Apprenticeship Coordinator
The South Dakota Association of Rural Water Systems (SDARWS) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Apprenticeship Coordinator to support the development of the next generation of water and wastewater professionals. Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Field Program Supervisor
Location: Madison, South Dakota
Position Summary
The Apprenticeship Coordinator will lead efforts to implement and manage Registered Apprenticeship Programs that create career pathways in the water and wastewater industry. This individual will work with employers, mentors, instructors, and apprentices to ensure quality training and development while supporting the goals of SDARWS and the National Rural Water Association.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and recruit for apprenticeship programs with potential employers, applicants, and stakeholders.
- Serve as liaison and primary point of contact for all apprenticeship-related parties.
- Monitor apprentices’ progress, training, and compliance with program standards.
- Maintain and update records in the NRWA Apprenticeship Tracking System.
- Develop youth outreach materials and partnerships to build a talent pipeline.
- Stay current with regulatory changes and ensure program compliance.
- Represent SDARWS at job fairs, expos, and public events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s in HR, Workforce Administration, or Business preferred but willing to train the right candidate).
- 3–5 years of experience in apprenticeship program management or workforce development.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Ability to travel throughout the state and occasionally nationwide.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
