Grounds Keeper

Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time Grounds Keeper to maintain the campus landscape and provide snow/ice removal services. This position will work an 8 hour shift Monday through Friday from 7am – 4pm. The position will require some early mornings, weekends, and/or evenings as needed to help with event set up or snow removal.

Responsibilities:

  • Mow lawns.
  • Plants, cultivates, and trims plants, shrubs, flowers, and trees.
  • Operates lawn mowers, power sweepers, tractors, stump cutters, and various power and hand tools.
  • Paints parking lot striping.
  • Lines and maintains athletic fields.
  • Applies chemicals such as pesticides, fertilizers, and herbicides.
  • Removes snow, ice, and debris from sidewalks, streets, and grounds.
  • Maintains, installs, and repairs sprinkler system and related equipment.
  • Maintains mowers, sweepers, and other equipment.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Lift up to 50lbs regularly.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labor.
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles, hand and power tools, and related equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
