Local Law Enforcement would like to have a short gathering with local retailers to strengthen fraud prevention and business security. Recent scams — including one where scammers impersonated law enforcement to trick employees into purchasing gift cards — have shown the need for awareness and proactive education. The session would give retailers practical tools and knowledge to:
Learn about current scams, theft trends, and payment fraud schemes affecting local businesses
Understand safe practices for handling checks
Review recent cases and lessons learned from fraud incidents in the community
Gain tips on spotting fake identification when verifying customer age or purchases
The overall goal is to bring retailers together in a supportive, community-focused setting to share prevention strategies, protect businesses, and reduce vulnerability to scams and fraud.
